Why Do We Need Risk Group?

Each one of us across nations currently stands on the verge of the most turbulent and transformative period in all human history. As information technology, genetics, synthetic biology, nanotechnology, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, cloud computing, quantum computing, internet of things, blockchain, 3D printing, CRISPR technology, gene editing, nanosatellites, and drones merge and converge to make the once unachievable imagination possible, it is not only human and robot intelligence that will merge and create unthinkable possibilities, the likes of molecular manufacturing and synthetic biology will also bring earth-shattering potential to build virtually any physical and/or chemical item quickly and inexpensively directly from pure information and/or organisms—creating complex security risks and challenges for everyone. The rapidly emerging technological convergence is about to create a technological tsunami. This will not only fundamentally change human lives, but will also create new industries, destroy a few industries, impact many industry sectors, evaporate several businesses, create a significant amount of hi-tech specialized and skilled jobs, destroy many unskilled jobs, collapse a few nations and change the nature of an unprecedented number of security risks. It will be by far much more complex and much bigger than any security risks we face in cyberspace-geospace-space (CGS) currently.

Risk Group: Approach

Risk Group will collaborate with individuals and entities from across nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA) for the support of independent and inter-dependent security risk research that is inconsonant with its mission of strategic security. It is Risk Group’s belief that collaboration within, between, and across individuals and entities across NGIOA will be mutually beneficial to all stakeholders across nations—for not only in the identification and understanding of independent security risks facing one nation, but interconnected and interdependent security risks facing all nations.

Risk Group: Philosophy

Risk Group believes that risk management, security, and peace walk together hand in hand. Though security is related to the management of threats and peace to the management of conflict, risk management is related to the management of security vulnerabilities as well as management of conflict, and it is not possible to conceive any one of the three without the existence of the other two. All three concepts feed into each other. Risk Group believes that the security we build for ourselves is precarious and uncertain until it is secured for everyone across nations. Tradition becomes our security, so if we build a culture of managing risks effectively it will lead us to security and security will lead us to peace.

Risk Group: Research Centers

Risk Group’s Research Centers are creating actionable strategic security risk data, information, and intelligence that would help entities across nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA) understand the strategic security risks, and develop abilities to survive, sustain and succeed in the most turbulent time brought on due to technology triggered transformation happening in cyberspace, geospace, and space.

• Cyber Security Risk Research Center: is about research, review, rating and reporting the strategic security risks arising in cyberspace and because of cyberspace in geospace and space due to connected computers, computer code, and the internet.
• Geo-Security Risk Research Center: is about research, review, rating and reporting the physical infrastructure security risks arising due to the rapidly changing technologies in cyberspace and space and the growing connectivity and dependencies between cyberspace, geospace, and space.
• Space-Security Risk Research Center: is about research, review, rating and reporting the strategic security risks arising from space due to the growing space exploration and the increasing connectivity of the space initiatives with cyberspace and geospace.
