The Perpetuation of Juvenile Behavior as Our Biggest Risk

Our oversized brains have resulted in juvenile behavior, sustained and exaggerated by our culture. Given that we can control our behavior, perhaps...

I wanted to share an idea with you all that may/not be helpful in solving the ‘human’ threat to our existence. It is well known that as we have evolved, our heads/brains have gotten bigger and bigger. Logic would dictate that there must have come a point at which our heads were too big to fit through the birth canal at term gestation. To compensate, we have subsequently evolved with brains that are only 25% of their total volume at birth. Consequently, we are born in an immature state, which would account for our juvenile form, hairless, disproportionate heads, and behaviors consistent with juvenility. That state of being lasts at least 20 years in order for the brain to fully develop. But what has happened is that Civilization (in the West) has evolved to maintain and sustain such juvenility for our entire life cycle, largely through epigenetic inheritance, i.e. deriving traits directly from the environment, man-made as it is. I personally think that we could mitigate against the social perpetuation of the juvenile state, if only we were to wake up to this situation that we find ourselves in. No where better was this exemplified than on January 6, 2021, when mob rule overwhelmed the sanctity of American Democracy as the denouement of four years of rule by the biggest juvenile of them all!
