Byron Reese, Author of the book, Fourth Age: Smart Robots, Conscious Computers, and the Future of Humanity, and CEO of Gigaom based in the United States participate in Risk Roundup to discuss Smart Robots and the Future of Humanity.
Smart Robots
Each one of us across nations currently stands on the verge of the most turbulent and transformative period in all human history. The changes and challenges of the ongoing artificial intelligence-triggered automation and transformation are so profound that, from the perspective of human history, there has never been a time of greater promise or potential peril.
With the advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technologies, intelligent machines that were increasingly working alongside humans, or for humans, have come a long way and have started working on their own. As a result, the way things are done in the human ecosystem is changing fundamentally.
Smart Robots and the Future of Humanity
So, as we stand upon the precipice of change and prepare for the inevitable transformation of the human ecosystem in cyberspace, geospace and space, it is important to understand how artificial intelligence-driven fourth industrial revolution will impact humanity in the coming years.
The discussion today is not about the feasibility of smart robots—it is rather about understanding their impact on the future of humanity. It is about evaluating whether we are ready for Smart Robots and Smart Future because as we, the humans aim for broader capabilities beyond our intelligence, the rapid rise of smart robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will undoubtedly create complex societal implications that will likely be beyond our capabilities to manage if we are not prepared.
Time is now to talk about Smart Robots and the Future of Humanity.
