Securing the Internet of Things: Government Readiness
Along with the ever-changing nature of computing and computers, the continued evolution toward our broadening horizons has made possible a shift from the desktop, to the laptop, to mobile phones, and now everyday connected objects called “The Internet of Things” (IoT).
As almost any physical device can now be internet-enabled, connected, and smart, billions of physical devices are expected to join the global digital network in the coming years–bringing a number of opportunities as well as security risks for everyone.
As a result, nations and their governments that adopt a wait-and-see attitude toward the IoTs are unlikely to develop the expertise they need to effectively govern in a digital global age, nor will they stimulate the trust needed to efficiently deliver government services and to reassure concerned citizens about how IoTs will affect them. This undoubtedly will have a huge impact. Time is now to discuss the Internet of Things Security and Government Readiness.
