Risk Roundup: Blockchain Trends In India

Overview

The blockchain revolution is here. Blockchain technology brings forward the potential to provide a trustable digital infrastructure for a fair and balanced economic ecosystem that is based on shared information and distributed trust that is transparent and trackable. Thus, the question is no longer whether the digital disruption, transformation, and revolution that we are witnessing today on the backbone of blockchain will transform nations, industries, and economies, but rather, how they will do so.

The ongoing blockchain transformation has found its way into the Indian ecosystem. While it is still nascent, India has come to realize its potential and is tapping into its transformative capabilities to change its way of life fundamentally. The adoption of blockchain technology in India is experiencing rapid growth, as seen with the rise in the launch of startups. The investments in blockchain initiatives are in billions across industries. In addition, the number of patents approved is also growing in India. Not only that, but a wave of digital payments has also swept in. The demonetization initiative triggered a shift towards a cashless economy, and the beneficiaries are digital payment platforms. Banks, insurance companies, the real estate industry, supply chain vendors are all in it. With a successful large-scale adoption of digital payments, India seems to be moving towards successfully adopting blockchain. Blockchain is fundamentally defining the future of digital transactions.

So, it is essential to evaluate:

  • How is India responding to the blockchain-driven revolution that would bring transparency, trackability, trust, and accountability in the decisions made?
  • How serious are the Indian decision-makers and institutions about blockchain technology?
  • Are there any problems or issues that need to be resolved for the broader adoption of blockchain technology? Where is a need for more effort?
  • How does blockchain change course for Indian markets?
  • How many blockchains are in use or development? Which blockchain excites India most?
  • What type of applications is being built using blockchain technologies across industries?

Blockchain seems to be a much-needed digital infrastructure for socio-economic development for India.  While blockchains are causing a technology revolution across nations like India, it is crucial to evaluate what is necessary for the technology transformation to succeed. Now is a time to talk about Risks and Rewards!
