Prof. Risto Ilmoniemi

Prof. Risto Ilmoniemi, is currently the Head of Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering at Aalto University School of Science, Finland. He is currently developing novel brain imaging methods; and using them to reveal some secrets of the brain. His focus is on developing methods to diagnose and treat the brain. He received his PhD from Helsinki University of Technology, in 1985 on Solid State Physics. He and his team were awarded Innovation Prize by the New Technology Foundation (Turku) for “Multichannel magnetic brain stimulator”, 15000 FIM, April 14, 1997 He serves on the Board of Brain Research Society of Finland, 1990–1996. He is also a member of the Board, Graduate School “Functional Studies in Medicine”, 1995–2003. He is Chairman of the Board, Nexstim Ltd., 2000–2003; Member of the Board, 2000–2006. Member of Editorial Board: Journal of Psychophysiology, 2003–2007.
