Fourth Industrial Revolution and Security
Innovation is undoubtedly an important driver of economic growth.
Since the beginning of the scientific revolution, science and technology innovations have always been the backbone of economic expansion across nations. From flying shuttles to the spinning jenny, the electric motor to the diesel engine, and in recent times the internet, computing and communications technology along with blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, cloud computing, internet of things, drones,3D printing, robotics, big data, quantum computing; CRISPR technology, nanotechnology, nanosatellites, and more; each innovation is fundamentally transforming nations while ramping up the economic engine.
As witnessed across nations, this technological tsunami is on its way to fundamentally altering human life: the way we live, work, connect and communicate as individuals or entities across nations: its government, industries, organizations, and academia (NGIOA). The magnitude of this technology-triggered transformation will be unlike anything humankind has ever experienced before.
While we do not yet know just how this ongoing technology transformation and revolution will unfold and what it will mean to be a human, one thing is clear: the security risks emerging from cyberspace, geospace, and space (CGS) due to the rapid pace of the technology triggered transformation, revolution and evolution are becoming very complex.
Conclusion – Fourth Industrial Revolution and Security
The decisions we make today will determine how this ongoing technology transformation, revolution, and evolution will not only shape humanity but define and determine the very meaning of being a human.
We at Risk Group call attention to risks impacting humanity at all levels. By identifying the problem and raising awareness for it, we take the first step in beginning to address it. Time is now to talk about risks emerging from the ongoing industrial revolution!
